Tens of Thousands of Customers Affected by Water Supply, PAM Jaya Offers Compensation
Tens of thousands of PAM Jaya customers are potentially affected by maintenance at the Hutan Kota Water Treatment Plant (IPA) currently being carried out by PT Jakarta Utilitas Propertindo (JUP). However, the Jakarta-owned enterprise has assured that affected customers will still have access to water through various mitigation measures.
PAM Jaya’s Operations Director, Syahrul Hasan, stated that the maintenance of the Hutan Kota IPA is a crucial step to maintain the long-term reliability of the piped drinking water service. Nevertheless, the company will prioritise customer comfort during the works.
“During this process, we are ensuring that customers continue to receive the best service through the provision of free water tankers and compensation for affected customers,” Syahrul said in a press statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
He mentioned that PAM Jaya has prepared various mitigation measures to ensure the community’s water needs are met. One such measure is deploying free water tankers to affected areas to help meet the community’s needs until water distribution returns to normal.
PAM Jaya has also installed tanks with capacities of 5,000 litres and 1,000 litres to store water temporarily at several points in the affected locations. Furthermore, PAM Jaya is providing special compensation for affected customers who hold the Kartu Air Sehat (Healthy Water Card) in the form of a reduction on their current month’s bill of up to Rp 50,000.
“We hope these measures will help meet customer needs while improving the quality of PAM Jaya’s service,” Syahrul added.
