Tendean Traffic Partially Reopens After Truck Collision, Blok M Route Still Closed

Police and the South Jakarta Transportation Agency have reopened traffic flow on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, heading towards Pancoran, after it was temporarily closed during the dismantling of a pedestrian bridge (JPO) that was hit by a truck. Initially, officers placed traffic cones as road barriers to temporarily halt the flow of traffic in the area. Then, at 17:10 WIB, motorcycles and cars gradually began to pass along Jalan Kapten Tendean towards Pancoran. Conditions on the ground appeared heavily congested as it was rush hour, with people returning home from work or school. The flyover towards Pancoran was observed to remain open, although no Transjakarta buses were seen passing. Debris from the bridge dismantling was also seen being cleared and taken to a warehouse belonging to the DKI Jakarta Highways Department. Meanwhile, the section of Jalan Tendean heading towards Blok M remains closed, triggering long traffic jams. The incident involving a large truck carrying a crane that struck the Tendean pedestrian bridge occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, around 01:00 WIB. The truck was transporting heavy equipment from the Summarecon area in Bogor to the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta. The incident happened because the driver was distracted by a mobile phone and failed to consider the maximum height of the vehicle. As a result of the incident, the bridge structure suffered severe damage. The stairs were seen separated from the bridge body, while one of the supporting pillars was lifted due to the impact from the crane truck passing underneath. There were no casualties in the incident.
