Tendean Road Towards Blok M Reopens After Footbridge Debris Cleared

Traffic flow on Jalan Kapten Tendean heading towards Blok M was reopened on Tuesday (14/7) evening. The process of clearing the debris from the pedestrian bridge (JPO) has been completed. The footbridge on that stretch of road nearly collapsed after being hit by a truck transporting heavy equipment in the early hours of Tuesday (14/7). The bridge was subsequently dismantled for the safety of road users. “At 10.10 p.m. the demolition was completed and vehicles that were diverted have now been fully channelled through. As of 10.19 p.m., conditions are completely back to normal,” said Kabag Binopsnal Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kompol Robby Hefados when contacted on Tuesday. Robby also confirmed that the section of Jalan Kapten Tendean heading towards Pancoran is now passable as normal for vehicles. “Jalan Suryo heading towards Jalan Mampang Prapatan is also passable,” he said. The truck has since been evacuated. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was caused by the truck driver using a mobile phone. Police are still conducting inquiries into the incident. “It is still being investigated (regarding any alleged negligence by the driver that led to hitting the footbridge),” said South Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit Head Kompol Mujiyanto to reporters on Tuesday (14/7).
