A pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, is near collapse after being hit by a truck carrying heavy equipment that failed to pass underneath. The bridge is now unusable. Monitoring at the location on Tuesday (14/7/2026) at 07.30 WIB showed one support pillar had been severed from its base. The staircase on the side of Jalan Tendean heading towards Blok M also appeared to have separated from the connecting bridge. The truck that struck the bridge remains at the scene, still lodged under the structure. The damaged bridge has caused traffic congestion from the Pancoran flyover towards Blok M. Traffic flow only becomes smooth after passing the bridge. Officers from the Transportation Agency (Dishub), police, Satpol PP, the military, and the Bina Marga Agency are guarding the location. They are directing traffic and monitoring the bridge. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) previously reported the incident occurred early this morning at 00.30 WIB. The accident was caused by the truck driver’s carelessness. ‘The driver of the heavy equipment towing vehicle did not account for the maximum height of the load,’ wrote BPBD Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7).
