Tendean Footbridge Demolition Complete, South Jakarta Road Reopens in Both Directions
The demolition of a pedestrian bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean in South Jakarta, which was hit by a truck carrying heavy equipment, has been completed. Vehicles can now travel in both directions on Jalan Kapten Tendean.
Monitoring at the location on Tuesday (14/7/2026) showed that officers finished the demolition at around 9.35 pm Western Indonesia Time. They then loaded the remaining debris from the bridge into several trucks belonging to the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency.
A number of motorcyclists prepared to pass the road barrier. Queues were visible before the barrier.
The road was then opened at 9.45 pm Western Indonesia Time. Thus, Jalan Tendean is now accessible in both directions.
Traffic on Jalan Tendean heading towards Pancoran was observed to be smooth. Meanwhile, in the direction of Blok M, traffic was slightly congested because a vehicle transporting debris was still parked at the location.
Previously, the footbridge on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, was nearly destroyed after being hit by a heavy equipment truck that failed to pass underneath in the early hours of the morning. The footbridge could no longer be used because it was almost collapsed.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government then dismantled the bridge at around 10.50 am Western Indonesia Time. The demolition process caused Jalan Tendean to be temporarily closed and traffic to be diverted.
