Chinese technology company Tencent has launched an application called WorkBuddy, designed to function as a personal assistant capable of performing complex activities for office workers. The app became available for individual users on iOS, Android, and HarmonyOS in China in March 2026, and was launched in Indonesia on 14 July 2026.

Eric Li, Director of AI Global Commercialisation at Tencent Cloud, explained that the company is currently supporting a firm undergoing cloud migration. “They are utilising our WorkBuddy, which will assist their staff by providing an appropriate migration plan, enabling them to complete it faster and at a lower cost,” Li stated in Shanghai.

Beyond the individual user app, Tencent has also developed the Agent Development Platform 4.0 (ADP 4.0), which is aimed at enterprises and industries. The platform supports intelligent customer service, knowledge management, media production, and other fields. “For office worker scenarios, we provide a personal assistant, while ADP is a platform for companies to build agent applications. These products will deliver different applications for enterprises across various scenarios,” Eric said.

The AI agents in question can receive commands, formulate plans, and execute a series of tasks, going beyond the capabilities of standard chatbots. In Indonesia, Tencent is already assisting a major hospital group in using ADP to build services such as patient guidance, consultation, and a series of question-and-answer services, helping patients determine where to seek treatment.

Eric noted that in Indonesia, people predominantly communicate via WhatsApp and work using Microsoft systems, which operate on different cloud computing platforms. “In this workflow, we must connect their business systems and make the AI agent visible and manageable for their business managers. That is the additional capability our product offers—not just a way to interact with users, but genuinely producing medical advice, or helping to purchase SIM cards from operators, and assisting in running SIM card purchasing operations for telecommunications company clients,” he added.
