Ten-Year Lease Expires, Mataram City Government Urges NTB BGTK to Relocate Promptly
The Mataram City Government (Pemkot Mataram) is urging the Provincial Education and Educational Personnel Agency (BGTK NTB) to relocate and vacate the premises immediately. This is because the contract for the use of the asset land has expired at the beginning of 2026.
For information, the BGTK NTB land use contract, located on Jalan Gajah Mada, Jempong, Sekarbela, Mataram City, expired in January 2025. However, Pemkot provided an additional vacating period until early 2026.
The Mataram City Secretary General (Sekda), Lalu Alwan Basri, confirmed that Pemkot Mataram will not opt for an extension of the borrowing period, as it is deemed ineffective. As a solution, Alwan offered a temporary location exchange option. Namely, BGTK to move to the Tourism Department or Education Department office on Jalan Majapahit.
“We hope for involvement from the Provincial Government, because that is the provincial scope, perhaps the Provincial Government has land,” said Alwan, when confirmed in his office on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
“Temporary exchange, yesterday we offered the secretariat to move first to the Tourism Department or Education Department,” Alwan continued.
Although the negotiation process is still ongoing, Pemkot Mataram is reluctant to set a target time for BGTK to vacate the city-owned asset land.
“I don’t want to set targets yet, the important thing is it’s resolved. Clearly, this can be settled as soon as possible,” he explained.
Previously reported, the Director General of Teachers and Educational Personnel (Dirjen GTK), Nunung Suryani, requested clarity from Pemkot Mataram regarding the use of the NTB Balai Penggerak (BGP) office land on Jalan Gajah Mada, Jempong, Sekarbela.
“The result of the agreement earlier, we were given the opportunity to use it. So, friends at BGP NTB can office there, until (there is) a new land that can be used,” said Nunung when interviewed at the Mataram Mayor’s Pendopo previously.
As is known, Pemkot Mataram plans to take over the BGP NTB office which stands on city-owned land. The land borrowing period ends in February 2025.
