Ten-vehicle pile-up on Cipularang Toll Road towards Jakarta, 3 km of traffic jam

A multi-vehicle collision involving ten vehicles occurred at KM 93 on the Cipularang Toll Road towards Jakarta, resulting in two fatalities. Traffic in the area was congested for about 3 km. A Jasa Marga call centre official, Nugroho, said evacuation of victims and vehicles involved in the accident was still ongoing. As a result, traffic congestion stretched from KM 96 to KM 93. ‘The situation at the location, based on information we have, there is still some congestion from KM 96 to 93,’ Nugroho said when contacted at 22:42 WIB, Thursday (5 March 2026). Nugroho said there was no closure of traffic at the location. He said the congestion occurred due to the evacuation of vehicles. ‘Normal conditions only congestion due to evacuation,’ he added. Nugroho said handling of the accident at the site was still ongoing. Several vehicles had already been evacuated. ‘From information we have, evacuations are ongoing; some vehicles have been evacuated but remain under on-site handling,’ he said. At 20:59 WIB, one lane could be traversed, and at 21:43 WIB, two lanes had been reopened for traffic. Earlier, the accident occurred at 20:18 WIB. All lanes were closed at the time of the crash. ‘The accident involved ten vehicles and caused all lanes to be impassable. It is still being handled by on-site officers,’ Panji Satriya, Head of Marketing and Communications Department, Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, said in a statement. Based on preliminary information from on-site officers, two people died and four were seriously injured. All victims had been evacuated to Radjak Purwakarta Regional General Hospital for further treatment. ‘Jasa Marga apologises for the inconvenience experienced during the evacuation process,’ he said.
