Brigadier General Faisal of the Directorate of Traffic Corps (Dirgakum Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police said ten toll roads would be made functional during the Mudik and balik Lebaran 2026 period. He said the operation of these functional toll roads is expected to help alleviate traffic congestion on several major corridors.

‘Ten functional toll roads this year, there are ten,’ Faisal said during a discussion titled ‘Synergy Between Government and Stakeholders for a Safe and Comfortable Mudik 2026’, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March 2026).

He explained that one of the routes that would significantly help reduce congestion is the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) South Toll Road. Based on the latest survey by Badan Usaha Jalan Tol (BUJT), the road is ready for use in the return flow.

‘So Sadang later, when the Bandung flow returns, last year all traffic went into Cikampek; this year some of it will be directed to Japek Selatan and will merge at Setu, becoming JORR 2,’ he said.

‘This means a portion of vehicles can be channeled toward Japek Selatan to reduce the load on Japek or Cikampek. Cikampek bears the load from the direction of Central Java and East Java,’ he added.

In addition to Japek Selatan, another functional toll is Bocimi Section 3 of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi Toll Road heading toward Sukabumi. The toll road, Faisal said, is expected to address a key congestion point, particularly at Pasar Cibadak.

‘This year the functional toll will be usable from Parung Kuda to exit directly at Karang Tengah, thereby avoiding the critical point Pasar Cibadak. It can be used during both the mudik and balik periods,’ he explained.

Moreover, the Prambanan–Jogja toll will also be functional during the mudik period. Faisal said they have coordinated with relevant stakeholders so that the road can help alleviate congestion in the Yogyakarta area and surrounding regions.

‘Tol Prambanan-Jogja is also usable functionally, and we have coordinated; hopefully during the mudik balik, Prambanan-Jogja can help ease congestion,’ he stated.

Additionally, the Korlantas Polri has prepared a number of checkpoints to monitor passenger and rental vehicles. One inspection post will be located at Km 81.

‘In the area of KM 81 Ambon, we have prepared checkpoint for passenger vehicles and rental vehicles, which we will carry out jointly to anticipate earlier information that private vehicles from morning to night nonstop transport passengers,’ he said.

He stressed that the measure is important to prevent fatigued drivers from pushing themselves to drive. Faisal said if a fatigued driver is found, officers will direct them to rest.

‘Thus at the checkpoint, if the inspection shows fatigue, we will provide facilities for rest. Because if forced, this can lead to traffic accidents,’ he added.
