The North Jakarta Class I Immigration Office has arrested ten Chinese nationals for violating immigration regulations. They were found working as construction labourers on a project in the Pluit Karang Sari residential area, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. “The ten Chinese nationals were caught working as labourers, whilst they only held visitor visas for Indonesia,” said Rendra Mauliansyah, Head of the North Jakarta Class I Immigration Office, as reported by Antara on Sunday (25/7/2026). Immigration officials stated that the ten Chinese citizens entered Indonesia using C2 visitor visas. In practice, they were engaged in activities as construction labourers. The ten foreign nationals were carrying out work including assembling steel and pillars for the building. Additionally, some were cutting wood and steel for the building’s main frame. Based on the examination results, the ten Chinese nationals have violated Article 122 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, which pertains to foreigners who deliberately misuse or engage in activities inconsistent with the purpose and objective of the residence permit granted to them. “They are being detained in the Detention Room of the North Jakarta Class I Immigration Office prior to deportation and blacklisting,” Rendra stated. Previously, on Friday (17/7), the ten Chinese nationals were subjected to immigration administrative actions in the form of deportation and inclusion on the blacklist, in accordance with Article 75 Paragraph 2 letters a and f. “They were returned to their country via a Jakarta-Guangzhou flight route through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport,” Rendra revealed.
