Ten Candidates to Undergo Fit and Proper Test for OJK Leadership Positions Today; Economist Calls for Public-Oriented Leadership
Jakarta — Ten candidates for Chairperson and members of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Council are scheduled to undergo fit and proper testing today, Wednesday 11 March 2026.
The fit and proper test is being conducted to fill five leadership positions within the OJK for the next five-year term.
Budi Frensidy, an economist and Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Indonesia, stated that the financial services sector generally requires OJK leaders who are close to the public.
He explained that this is particularly important in relation to making important strategic decisions.
“Especially ones that are unusual,” he added.
Additionally, Budi has focused particular attention on policies recently introduced in the capital markets sector.
The two regulations are: raising the minimum free float of publicly held shares to 15 per cent, and opening disclosure obligations for shareholdings down to 1 per cent.
According to him, the regulations introduced to meet Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) requirements were considered rushed.
“And they didn’t think ahead,” he said.
The fit and proper test for OJK Council candidates follows a presidential letter sent to parliament.
Mukhamad Misbakhun, Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives, stated that the five positions to be filled include the Chairperson of the Council, Deputy Chairperson, Head of the Capital Markets Executive, Head of the Digital Assets Executive, and Head of Consumer Protection Executive.
“Commission XI has already received a direct instruction in the plenary address of the Speaker of the House of Representatives during the second sitting period of 2025–2026 that Commission XI will conduct fit and proper tests for OJK Council candidates for five positions,” Misbakhun said at Parliament Complex on Tuesday 10 March 2026.
Commission XI of the House of Representatives is also targeting that the decision regarding the selected candidates can be made on the same day after the entire fit and proper test process is completed.
“Our tradition usually does not delay. After the fit and proper test is completed, we make the decision that same day,” he said.
The list of ten candidates for OJK leadership undergoing fit and proper testing today includes: Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Agus Sugiarto, Hernawan Bekti Sasongko, Ari Zulfikar, Hasan Fawzi, Darmansyah, Dicky Kartikoyono, Danu Febrianto, Adi Budiarso, and Anton Daryono.
