Ten Bogor Commuter Line journeys delayed after person struck by train
Ten Bogor Commuter Line journeys were delayed by more than an hour and two journeys were cancelled after Commuter Line No.1183, serving the Bogor–Jakarta Kota route, struck a person on the railway line between Pasar Minggu and Manggarai on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, eight Tangerang Commuter Line journeys experienced delays of up to 48 minutes after Tangerang Commuter Line No.1914, serving the Duri–Tangerang route, struck a motorcycle crossing at an unofficial level crossing between Rawabuaya and Batu Ceper stations.
KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda said in an official statement that, to reduce the number of incidents, KAI Commuter would continue to coordinate and collaborate with various parties so that safety along the railway line could be improved. “KAI Commuter will continue to collaborate and coordinate with regional authorities and community leaders to educate people about safety along the railway line,” Karina said.
KAI Commuter Director Purnomo Sidi said that as a result of the collision with a person, Bogor Commuter Line No.1183 suffered damage to the air pipe in its braking system. For the safety of the Commuter Line journey, the train set had to be evacuated using a rescue train for repairs at the Bukit Duri KRL depot. “To reduce delays, Commuter Line journeys on that route were temporarily operated using a single track,” Purnomo said.
The delay to Tangerang Commuter Line journeys was caused by a collision with a motorcycle at an unofficial level crossing. The incident also caused damage to the front cabin of the train. On this route, Commuter Line journeys between Rawabuaya and Batu Ceper were temporarily operated on a single track. Officers immediately went to the location to inspect and carry out initial repairs to ensure the safety of subsequent journeys.
KAI Commuter apologised for the delays to Commuter Line journeys on the Bogor and Tangerang routes, caused by the collision involving Commuter Line No.1183 on the Bogor–Jakarta Kota route and the collision involving Tangerang Commuter Line No.1914 on the Duri–Tangerang route at an unofficial level crossing between Rawabuaya and Batu Ceper stations.
KAI Commuter urged and invited all members of the public to always prioritise safety and follow the instructions of officers. “If operational disruptions occur, all users are urged to always prioritise safety, not to force their way in if the KRL is already too crowded, and not to cross the railway line,” Purnomo said.
