Meulaboh — The West Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is targeting completion of all temporary housing units (huntara) in the area this month, particularly six units for disaster survivors in Lawet Village, Pante Ceureumen District.

“Our target is for disaster victims to be able to occupy the temporary housing before Eid al-Fitr,” said Acting Head of West Aceh BPBD Teuku Ronald on Monday.

On Tuesday, 10 March, the West Aceh District Government officially inaugurated six temporary housing units that had been completed by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) for six households in Jambak Village, Pante Ceureumen District.

Teuku Ronald stated that temporary housing construction for disaster victims is being accelerated, with the expectation that by Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, all disaster survivors will no longer be sleeping in tents or sheltering with relatives.

“Our target is for all temporary housing units in Lawet Village, Pante Ceureumen District, to be completed this month as well,” he said.

To ensure comfort and adequate living standards for residents, each temporary housing unit is equipped with basic life support equipment including beds, stoves, cooking utensils, and various other support equipment and tools to provide adequate facilities for residents.

He noted that this assistance is the result of collaboration from various parties, including BNPB, West Aceh BPBD, West Aceh Baitul Mal, and several other related organisations.

Previously, the West Aceh District BPBD recorded 122 houses across several districts in West Aceh affected by flash flooding that occurred on 26 November 2025. The breakdown of house damage experienced by residents includes 49 houses severely damaged, 24 houses moderately damaged, and 49 houses declared lightly damaged.
