The Post-Disaster Sumatra Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) has recorded significant progress, marked by the completion of temporary housing (huntara) construction on target in North Sumatra (Sumut) and West Sumatra (Sumbar).

Based on Satgas PRR data as of 4 May 2026, all 1,024 required huntara units in Sumut have been completed. Meanwhile, in Sumbar, 830 huntara units have been fully built.

On the other hand, huntara construction in Aceh, the region with the greatest impact, is also showing rapid progress. Of the total planned 18,380 units, 16,785 have been completed, or about 91%.

Overall, huntara construction in the three provinces has reached 18,639 units out of the total planned 20,234 units, or about 92%. Huntara construction is a collaborative effort across sectors involving BNPB, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR/PKP), local governments, TNI-Polri, as well as various humanitarian organisations and communities.

With the completion of huntara construction in some areas, Satgas PRR is now accelerating permanent housing (huntap) construction as part of the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase. As of 4 May 2026, progress on huntap construction in the three provinces stands at 4.2%, with 1,661 units under construction and 248 units completed out of the total planned 39,501 units.

In Aceh, huntap construction is planned for 29,076 units. To date, 820 units are under construction and 104 units have been completed, or about 2.8%. In Sumut, out of the total planned 7,601 units, progress has reached 407 units under construction with 120 units completed, equivalent to 5.3%.

Meanwhile, in Sumbar, out of the planned 2,824 units, construction has reached 434 units with 24 units completed, or about 15.36%.

The Head of the Post-Disaster Sumatra Satgas PRR, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that accelerating huntap construction is the top priority after temporary housing needs are met.

“Now we are pushing huntap. All huntap needs data, including for communal huntap, will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) to calculate budget requirements, then proposed to the Minister of Finance,” said Tito in his statement on Monday (4/5).

In addition to physical housing construction, the government is also strengthening support through the Housing Waiting Fund (DTH) instrument. As of 4 May 2026, DTH distribution has reached 19,228 recipients in the three provinces with 100% realisation.

DTH is given to survivors who choose to rent housing or stay with relatives while waiting for huntap to be built. The DTH amount is Rp600,000 provided for 3 months or Rp1.8 million.

Going forward, Satgas PRR will continue to oversee the acceleration of permanent housing construction and ensure that all survivors can soon occupy safe, decent, and dignified homes as part of comprehensive post-disaster recovery.
