Temporary Bridge Washed Away Due to Heavy Rain, 10 Villages in Central Aceh Isolated
Ten villages in two sub-districts in Central Aceh, Aceh, have become isolated again after a temporary bridge was washed away due to river overflow. The incident has also affected the acceleration of temporary housing construction in Jamat Settlement.
Head of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Central Aceh, Andalika, stated that heavy rain on Tuesday, 31 March, caused the river water to overflow, resulting in damage and washing away of three bridges built by the TNI. The three bridges are located at Kala Ili in Linge Sub-district; Burlah Bridge in Ketol Sub-district; and Bergang Bridge in Ketol Sub-district.
“The disruption of these three bridges has caused several villages in Linge and Ketol Sub-districts to become isolated again,” said Andalika, as quoted by detikSumut on Thursday (2/4/2026).
The isolated villages in Linge Sub-district are Linge Village, Jamat Village, Delung Sekinel Village, Kutenireje Village, and Reje Payung Village. Meanwhile, in Ketol Sub-district, there are Burlah Village, Kekuyang Village, Bintang Pepara Village, Bergang Village, and Karang Ampar Village.
According to him, the impact of the Kala Ili bridge disruption, besides causing isolation, greatly affects the acceleration of temporary housing (huntara) construction and communal temporary housing (huntap) in Jamat Settlement, Linge Sub-district. This is because the transportation or delivery of building materials has been disrupted.
“Our hope is that access will soon be functional and safe, so it is necessary to immediately accelerate the installation of Bailey bridges at the three mentioned locations before the permanent bridges are rebuilt,” explained Andalika.
