Temporarily Damaged, Mauponggo-Ngera Road Worth Rp 18 Billion Restored to Smooth Condition
Kupang - The East Nusa Tenggara National Road Implementation Unit (BPJN NTT) acted quickly to address damage on the Mauponggo-Ngera-Puuwada road section in Nagekeo Regency, which had previously been complained about by residents. The damage occurred at several points on the two-kilometre Mauponggo-Puuwada 1 segment. Small cracks and a decline in road surface quality had raised concerns among the community, who rely on the route daily, from farmers and students to small traders. Head of the National Road Implementation Work Unit (Satker PJN) Region IV NTT, Wilhelmus Sugu Djawa, stated that the damage occurred while the project was still in the implementation stage or before the first handover process (PHO). “This damage happened while the work was still ongoing or not yet PHO. It has now been handled by us, and the condition is back to good,” Wilhelmus told Kompas.com on Friday night (20/3/2026). He explained that the road improvement project is part of two work packages under the 2025 Presidential Instruction Programme for Regional Roads in Nagekeo Regency, with a total contract value of Rp 18.39 billion. The first package is the preservation of the two-kilometre Mauponggo-Ngera-Puuwada 1 road, carried out by CV Ratu Orzora with a value of Rp 9.11 billion. Both packages are under the supervision of consultancy firm PT Maha Charisma Adiguna. The project’s Authorised Commitment Maker (PPK), Richard Manukoa, emphasised that every finding of damage is part of mandatory evaluations that must be followed up immediately. “It has been handled, and now the condition is good and smooth,” said Richard. He mentioned that the repairs were carried out by the implementing contractor as part of their responsibility, given that the project is still in the implementation period. According to him, responsibility does not end with administrative completion but also covers the post-work phase to ensure the road’s quality is maintained. Richard also revealed that since the project began, his team has involved the NTT High Prosecutor’s Office in the supervision.
