'Tempo' violence intolerable

I feel concerned over and wish to condemn an assault on the
office of Tempo magazine. This was an example of bad and shameful
behavior that cannot be tolerated. Do not let the freedom of the
press, after being trampled upon for so long, be destroyed again
by street thugs.

The community must really be made aware that when a difference
of opinion cannot be resolved in an amicable manner, it should be
settled in a court of law.

I condemn the passive attitude shown by the police present at
the scene of the incident. It is even more embarrassing for the
police when two journalists were struck under their very noses.
