As many as 3,000 travellers were sent off through the free homeward journey programme organised by Tempo Scan Group ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. A total of 52 buses were departed from the Istiqlal Mosque area in Jakarta on Sunday (15/3), heading to various cities on the islands of Java and Sumatra.

The programme, themed ‘Mudik Sepenuh Hati 100% Indonesia from Generation to Generation Together Building the Nation’, forms part of the company’s routine corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to assist business partner employees in returning to their hometowns.

Executive Chairman & Founder of Tempo Scan Group, Handojo S. Muljadi, stated that the free homeward journey programme embodies the company’s commitment, which has been established for 72 years, to continue providing benefits to Indonesian society.

“The theme of heartfelt homeward journey aligns with Tempo Scan’s spirit of working wholeheartedly for Indonesia. We are a 100 per cent Indonesian company with products made domestically, so through this programme, we aim to deliver tangible benefits to society and help travellers return home safely and comfortably,” said Handojo in his remarks on Sunday (15/3/2026).

He added that this free homeward journey programme has been held for nearly a decade and has become a routine company agenda as a form of appreciation to business partners who have been an important part of Tempo Scan’s business journey.

According to Handojo, through this activity, the company also seeks to strengthen relationships with business partners while supporting Indonesia’s homeward journey tradition ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

Deputy Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Suntana, who was present at the send-off event, expressed appreciation for the free homeward journey initiative undertaken by the private sector, including Tempo Scan.

“The government is currently preparing various stimulus and transportation support programmes to help the public with their homeward journeys. Free homeward journey programmes conducted by companies like Tempo Scan are part of the collaboration between the government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector to ensure the public can travel home safely, comfortably, and happily,” said Suntana.

He also reminded travellers to be cautious during their journeys, pay attention to their luggage and family, especially children, so that the trip to their hometowns proceeds smoothly.

Head of Social and Community Empowerment at Istiqlal Mosque, Abu Hurairah, stated that Istiqlal is open to various social activities that benefit the wider community.

“Istiqlal is a great house of humanity open to all groups. The homeward journey tradition ahead of Eid al-Fitr is part of Indonesian society’s togetherness, so we welcome activities like this and hope the free homeward journey programme can continue to benefit more people,” said Abu Hurairah.

In this year’s free homeward journey programme, participants were sent to various destination cities on Java and Sumatra. Some of the routes served include Solo, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Lampung.

Before the bus send-off, the event began with a religious lecture and collective prayer delivered by Ustaz Akri. The activities were also filled with entertainment and door prize distributions for the participants, adding a warm and communal atmosphere before the travellers began their journey to their hometowns.
