Tembalang Semarang Hit by Flooding, Hundreds of Residents Affected
The Tembalang area of Semarang was hit by flooding as a result of heavy rainfall. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Semarang recorded that hundreds of residents were affected by the flooding.
As reported on Monday (16/2/2026), the Head of Operations at BPBD Semarang, Endro P Martanto, said the flooding occurred in the early hours of the morning, at approximately 02:00 local time. The drainage system was unable to cope with the overflow of water.
“Heavy rainfall of moderate to high intensity in the Semarang city area, and the drainage system was unable to handle the volume of water, causing the flow to overflow and inundate residential areas,” said Endro in his report.
A number of affected locations included Argo Residence housing estate, Grand Batik Semarang, Grand Permata Tembalang, Dinar Indah housing estate RW 26 Meteseh, and RW 1 in Rowosari subdistrict. Additionally, the Grand Permata Tembalang area in Tembalang district was one of the locations with a significant number of affected residents.
“At Argo Residence, flooding submerged RT 7 and RT 8 of RW 7, with a total of 50 households or 160 individuals affected. Meanwhile, at Grand Batik Semarang, 13 households or 33 individuals were recorded as affected,” he stated.
At Dinar Indah housing estate RW 26, Meteseh subdistrict, Tembalang district, 31 households were recorded as affected. Meanwhile, in RW 1 of Rowosari subdistrict, approximately 200 households or 500 individuals were affected.
