Temanggung Regency’s Department of Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries (DKPPP) has confirmed that sacrificial animals from the district are healthy and fit for consumption ahead of Eid al-Adha. The Animal Health Inspection Team of DKPPP routinely monitors livestock health at markets to ensure animals are healthy and safe to trade in the run-up to Eid al-Adha.

Liana Nurul Wahyuningtyas, head of the Temanggung DKPPP Animal Inspection Team, told reporters that checks are conducted comprehensively, from clinical examinations to health-support medications. “Inspections start from the mouth to look for infections, the eyes to detect anemia, as well as the health of the skin and fur, including the condition of the limbs,” she said on Thursday (21 May). Temperature is also checked using a thermometer to ensure the animals’ health remains normal.

“Routine monitoring is carried out to control contagious animal diseases and to supervise the livestock that will be used as sacrificial animals,” she added. The Temanggung Government pledges that the animals to be sacrificed are healthy so the meat produced is safe, wholesome, intact and halal. Based on preliminary results, all animals inspected thus far are in good condition and fit for sale.

In addition to health checks, staff routinely provide medicines and vitamins to maintain the animals’ condition. Deworming is also carried out to control parasites and reduce the risk of worms during slaughter. “The aim is that the meat produced is safe for public consumption,” she concluded.
