In Temanggung, there are 13,757 children from desil 1 and 2 families who will enter upper secondary education level. Temanggung (ANTARA) - The Temanggung Regency Social Service Agency in Central Java is prioritising new prospective students for Sekolah Rakyat (SR) 2026 who are school dropouts from extremely poor families or fall into desil 1 and 2 categories. Head of the Temanggung Regency Social Service Agency, Umi Lestari Nurjanah, in Temanggung on Wednesday, stated that this step aims to identify children at risk of dropping out due to financial constraints so they can still receive education. “Desil 1 to 2 are the strata of the extremely poor. Even the central government’s directive targets children who have dropped out from families in desil 1 to 2 categories, so these children can be drawn into Sekolah Rakyat,” she said. She mentioned that in Temanggung, there are 13,757 children from desil 1 and 2 families who will enter upper secondary education (SLTA) level. “For the 2026/2027 academic year, these students will be placed in Sekolah Rakyat in Wonosobo Regency, as the construction of the Sekolah Rakyat building in Temanggung has not yet started due to ongoing land acquisition issues,” she said. She added that for the previous 2025/2026 academic year, Sekolah Rakyat in Temanggung Regency was allocated a quota of 125 children for the senior high school level, and it is currently operating from the Sentra Terpadu Kartini Temanggung building.
