Temanggung DPRD Member Resigns After Report of Alleged Assault on Woman

A member of the Temanggung Regency DPRD in Central Java, with initials NR, has resigned after being reported to the police for allegedly assaulting his female friend at a karaoke venue in the Bandungan area, Semarang Regency.

The victim’s legal representative, MF Hasan, stated that the incident began when the victim, with initials S, went to Bandungan with the DPRD member on Friday night (10/4).

“They travelled together for entertainment, in one car. Yes (from Temanggung to Bandungan),” said Hasan, as quoted by detikcom on Tuesday (14/4).

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Semarang Police Resort, AKP Bodia Teja Lelana, said that the police are currently taking statements from the victim.

“It’s true that the report has been filed, and the victim is being examined,” said Bodia.

The Secretary of the PPP Temanggung Regency Branch, Ahmad Syarif Yahya or Gus Syarif, stated that NR has clarified the matter and admitted to his actions. NR resigned from his position as a Temanggung Regency DPRD member on Sunday (12/4).

“Because NR is actually a replacement for Nadia Muna who is running for Deputy Regent. And in the previous period, NR had a poor track record. Therefore, when NR was inaugurated, we had already given him a letter of agreement not to engage in bad habits and so on,” he added.
