A Temanggung Regency Regional House of Representatives member, initials NR, who assaulted his female friend at a karaoke venue in Bandungan, Semarang Regency, has been named a suspect. ‘He is now a suspect,’ said Semarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit head AKP Bodia Teja Lelana on Wednesday (20 May), quoted by detikJateng. Bodia said NR was detained after being named a suspect about a week earlier. ‘He is now in custody, detained since 13 May,’ he added. Bodia declined to reveal the chronology of the assault, saying authorities are currently completing the case file for submission to the court. ‘Apologies for the chronology; since it has not yet finalised, we cannot disclose it. We are currently in the process of completing the file,’ Bodia explained. Earlier, several media outlets had reported that a Temanggung DPRD member had been reported to police for allegedly assaulting his female friend. The assault occurred at a karaoke venue in the Bandungan area of Semarang Regency. Quoting detikJateng, the victim’s lawyer, MF Hasan, said the incident began when the victim and the DPRD member went to Bandungan on Friday night (10/4). ‘They travelled together for entertainment, in one car. Yes (from Temanggung to Bandungan),’ Hasan said in a telephone interview on Tuesday (14/4). ‘(What is the DPRD member’s name?) I have somewhat forgotten. The full name is of the Temanggung DPRD member there,’ Hasan added. Hasan said the plaintiff and the DPRD member sang karaoke in the Bandungan area until Saturday morning (11/4). The confrontation occurred as they were about to pay the karaoke bill. ‘(The assault happened) Saturday morning, from 05:00 to 06:00 WIB. When paying in front of the cashier, it continued to the car park and a dispute ensued; it turned out the attacker did not bring money,’ Hasan said. Hasan said the perpetrator also assaulted his client, resulting in injuries to her body. ‘(Injuries) on the arm, back, legs, head, back, face, nose, eyes,’ Hasan stated. Hasan explained that the victim and the perpetrator are Temanggung residents, describing their relationship as friends. He rejected the claim that the victim was a pemandu lagu (LC) or ladies’ companion at the karaoke venue. ‘(The victim) is not an LC who stays there at the karaoke; she is freelance, as it were. The status between the victim and the perpetrator is simply ordinary friends,’ he added. Read the full news here.
