Temanggung BLK holds hydroponic training to improve residents' skills

The Job Training Centre (BLK) of the Industry and Manpower Office (Disperinaker) in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, is encouraging the improvement of community skills through a hydroponic farming training programme, which has been held for the first time.

Head of BLK Disperinaker Temanggung Regency Fidian Ernawati said in Temanggung on Saturday that the programme is being carried out in collaboration with the Agriculture Office, particularly in the development of a “greenhouse” and the improvement of human resource capacity.

Registration for training participants was open from 10 to 28 August 2026, followed by selection on 31 August 2026, then announcement and re-registration on 3 to 4 September 2026, while the training itself will take place from 7 September to 1 October 2026.

She explained that the physical development of the “greenhouse” is the responsibility of the Agriculture Office. Meanwhile, BLK plays a role in improving human resource capacity through the training programme.

“From the beginning, we were asked to collaborate with greenhouse grant recipients through the Agriculture Office. The physical development falls under the Agriculture Office, while the human resource training is handled by BLK,” she said.

In addition to the hydroponic training, with a budget of Rp300 million from the Tobacco Excise Revenue Sharing Fund (DBHCHT), BLK Temanggung is also organising training this year in furniture finishing, graphic design and screen printing, welding, contemporary food, and injection-system motorcycle servicing, each with 16 participants.

According to her, the training programmes implemented by BLK do not rely solely on the regional government budget through the Tobacco Excise Revenue Sharing Fund (DBHCHT). BLK also accommodates various programmes supported by the central government through the State Budget (APBN).

“We must update our understanding of needs, both at the national and regional levels. So we have to collaborate to see what the national priority programmes are and then combine them with regional priorities,” she said.

The hydroponic training is one form of BLK’s support for the vision and mission of the Temanggung Regent. The programme is expected not to stop at the basic training funded through DBHCHT, but to continue with skills improvement programmes supported by the APBN.

“We are submitting a proposal for advanced hydroponic training, so that it does not rely solely on the regional budget,” she said.

She expressed hope that the hydroponic training would not merely provide technical skills to participants, but also open up business development opportunities and improve the economic independence of the community.
