Teluk Naga to be tourist destination

TANGERANG: Tangerang regency plans to develop its Teluk Naga beach into a tourist resort area, with a touch of Chinese culture as its main appeal.

"Such an atmosphere was chosen because many of its local residents are in fact Chinese descendants," Teluk Naga district chief Didi Supriyadi Wijaya said on Friday.

Didi further said that the Tangerang regency has provided Rp 14 billion (US$1.54 million) in funds to construct and improve access roads to the beach, including the area's two main roads from Kampung Melayu to Tanjung Pasir and Kosambi.

The regency has developed its Tanjung Pasir beach as a tourist resort area, attracting many local visitors for its clear waters and easy access from Tangerang city and Kalideres, West Jakarta.-- Antara
