Telkomsel has announced comprehensive support for the Cap Go Meh cultural celebration in 2026 in Singkawang and Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The telecommunications company has prepared Compact Mobile BTS (COMBAT) Hyper 5G and 4G infrastructure, eight new Hyper 5G base stations, 20 iMacro units, and network optimisation of Hyper 5G and 4G across more than 470 existing base stations. Network route optimisation between Pontianak and Singkawang has been implemented to ensure continuous service and quality connectivity, enabling Telkomsel customers to capture and share Cap Go Meh moments seamlessly.

Anky Arief Priyagung, Vice President of Area Network Operations at Telkomsel Pamasuka, stated that Cap Go Meh represents an important part of cultural heritage whilst serving as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds, tolerance, and harmony amongst residents. “Through our commitment to Serving Wholeheartedly, we aim to ensure Telkomsel customers remain comfortable communicating, accessing social media, sharing moments, and supporting digital activities during the celebrations,” he said.

Hyper 5G coverage has been expanded in Singkawang, with ultra-fast and stable 5G connectivity now available at key locations including Singkawang City Hall, Pekong Tua, and Kridasana Stadium. In Pontianak, new Hyper 5G base stations have been deployed along Diponegoro Street and Gajah Mada Street, complementing coverage launched in October 2025 that reached GraPARI Telkomsel on Gusti Sulung Lelanang Street, Kapuas Alun-Alun Park, Supadio International Airport, and the route from GraPARI Telkomsel to Ahmad Yani 2 Traffic Circle.

Telkomsel’s network performance has been officially recognised as delivering the highest internet speeds and consistent quality. According to the Opensignal Mobile Network Experience Report for December 2025, Telkomsel leads 11 of 16 network metrics, including 5G Video Experience, 5G Games Experience, 5G Download Speed, 5G Upload Speed, 5G Coverage Experience, and 5G Availability in Indonesia.

These efforts address anticipated high traffic spikes at key locations in Singkawang, including Singkawang City Hall, the Honour Stage, Kridasana Stadium, altars, Pekong Tua, Thai Pak Kung Vihara, culinary bazaar sites, and parade routes. Similar preparations have been made in Pontianak at Diponegoro Street, Gajah Mada Street, and Bhakti Suci Foundation.

Telkomsel will operate a customer service booth at Kridasana Stadium in Singkawang from 15 February to 4 March 2026, offering Telkomsel Point exchanges for merchandise, Halo Card and SIMPATI prepaid cards with vanity numbers, and promotions including free Indihome installation for Chinese New Year, Orbit Experience discounts of up to 50,000 rupiah, and additional giveaways.
