Telkomsel has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting sustainable business by expanding its social impact, strengthening customer data protection, and reducing its environmental footprint through various initiatives implemented throughout 2025.

The President Commissioner of Telkomsel, who also serves as Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Environment, Diaz F.M. Hendropriyono, stated that climate change is a challenge whose impacts are increasingly felt by the public. He noted that the business world must play a larger role in promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable practices. “I appreciate Telkomsel for showing genuine concern for sustainability, even though it does not operate in an extractive sector,” Diaz remarked during the launch of Telkomsel’s 2025 Sustainability Report in Jakarta.

Telkomsel’s President Director, Nugroho, stated that the company will continue to innovate to expand its reach and enhance the quality of its sustainability programmes. This commitment is realised through three sustainability pillars: Jaga Cita (Protecting Ambition), Jaga Data (Protecting Data), and Jaga Bumi (Protecting the Earth). Through the Jaga Cita pillar, Telkomsel aims to expand digital access and empower Indonesian talent. As of 2025, Telkomsel serves 156.1 million mobile subscribers and 10.3 million IndiHome B2C customers, supported by over 293,000 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) across Indonesia, including more than 360 previously unconnected villages. The company also supports approximately 90,000 students, MSMEs, communities, and young talents through various digital-based social programmes, while enhancing employee competence in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and data science.

Under the Jaga Data pillar, Telkomsel is strengthening customer data protection and cybersecurity by implementing information management systems based on ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and ISO 25010 standards. Meanwhile, through the Jaga Bumi pillar, Telkomsel is taking steps to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen operational resilience. By 2025, 361 Telkomsel BTS sites have utilised renewable energy from solar panels and micro-hydro power. The company also manages all electronic waste through recycle, reuse, and refurbish schemes, and has transitioned all SIM card packaging to more environmentally friendly paper materials. To support carbon offsetting efforts, Telkomsel planted over 12,000 mangrove trees throughout 2025. The company is also reinforcing the resilience of its network infrastructure, including BTS, Telkomsel Telecommunication Centres (TTC), and operational buildings, to mitigate climate change risks.

From an economic perspective, Telkomsel noted that approximately 83% of its total revenue in 2025 was redistributed to the government, shareholders, suppliers within the supply chain, and employees. This contribution is supported by more than 235,000 retail outlet partners spread across various regions in Indonesia.
