Telkomsel Wins GTI Awards 2026 for Opening Economic Opportunities with 5G
Telkomsel has successfully demonstrated the benefits of 5G for industrial productivity by securing the Market Development Award for 5G Enterprise Network Solutions (ENS) at GTI Awards 2026. This honour forms part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 Barcelona programme.
The award recognises Telkomsel’s initiative on the project “Accelerating Industry 4.0: How Telkomsel Forged Indonesia’s National 5G Smart Manufacturing Benchmark”, which involved developing a new-generation private 5G/5G-Advanced network at Pegaunihan, Pegatron’s smart manufacturing zone located in Batam spanning 85,000 square metres.
A “private 5G” network is a dedicated 5G network used exclusively within specific industrial environments, making it more stable, faster, and secure than public networks.
Telkomsel’s latest 5G technology deployment has enabled the Pegatron facility to operate with greater agility, efficiency, and reliability in the Industry 4.0 era. The solution facilitates integration between new digital systems and existing machinery whilst enhancing workers’ digital capabilities to meet modern operational requirements.
Since implementation, the initiative has strengthened daily production processes, made operations more responsive, reduced potential disruptions, and improved overall manufacturing performance. This collaboration has also become a new reference point for accelerating industrial digitalisation in Indonesia, opening opportunities for wider adoption of 5G, IoT, and AI.
Wong Soon Nam, Director of Planning & Transformation at Telkomsel, expressed gratitude for the GTI recognition. He stated that technologies such as 5G and AI should fundamentally simplify industry operations, making processes faster, more efficient, and more reliable.
“In the manufacturing sector, we have demonstrated that leveraging appropriate technology can unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen Indonesian industry’s competitive advantage. Going forward, we are committed to expanding the use of 5G/5G-Advanced to deliver increasingly intelligent and sustainable industrial solutions,” he said in an official statement.
C.Y. Feng, General Manager of Pegatron’s Broadband Products Business Group, expressed pride in collaborating with Telkomsel to implement 5G technology with tangible operational benefits.
“The private 5G network combined with automation and analytics allows us to manage production with greater responsiveness and precision. This award reinforces our commitment to continuing to support manufacturing sector transformation in Indonesia,” he said.
The Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) is a global alliance bringing together operators and technology companies to advance 4G, 5G, and 5G-Advanced technologies. GTI Awards are granted annually to innovations and commercial practices proven to accelerate 5G and AI adoption across sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and smart cities.
