Barcelona, VIVA – Telkomsel has successfully demonstrated the benefits of 5G for industrial productivity by winning the Market Development Award – 5G Enterprise Network Solutions (ENS) at GTI Awards 2026, part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 Barcelona programme.

The award was presented for the initiative in the project “Accelerating Industry 4.0: How Telkomsel Forged Indonesia’s National 5G Smart Manufacturing Benchmark”, which involved developing a next-generation private 5G/5G-A network in Pegaunihan, a smart manufacturing area operated by Pegatron located in Batam across 85,000 m². A “private 5G” network is a specialised 5G network used exclusively within a specific industrial environment, making it more stable, faster, and secure compared to public networks.

The deployment of Telkomsel’s latest 5G technology has helped Pegatron’s factory operate with greater agility, efficiency, and reliability in the Industry 4.0 era. The solution enables integration between new digital systems and existing machinery, whilst enhancing the digital skills of the workforce to better meet modern operational demands.

Since implementation, the initiative has strengthened the smoothness of daily production processes, made operations more responsive, reduced potential disruptions, and improved the overall manufacturing experience. This collaboration has also become a new reference point for accelerating industrial digitalisation in Indonesia, opening opportunities for broader adoption of 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.

Wong Soon Nam, Director of Planning & Transformation at Telkomsel, stated: “We are grateful for this GTI recognition. In principle, technologies such as 5G and AI should simplify industry operations, making processes faster, more efficient, and reliable. In the manufacturing sector, we have demonstrated that the proper use of technology can unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian industry. Going forward, we are committed to expanding the use of 5G/5G-Advanced to deliver increasingly intelligent and sustainable industrial solutions.”

C.Y. Feng, General Manager of Pegatron Broadband Products Business Group, commented: “We are proud to collaborate with Telkomsel in implementing 5G technology that delivers tangible benefits to our factory operations. The private 5G network combined with automation and analytics allows us to manage production with greater responsiveness and precision. This award reinforces our commitment to continue supporting the transformation of Indonesia’s manufacturing sector.”
