Telkomsel Supports Flores Recovery Through Humanitarian Aid
Telkomsel continues to demonstrate its concern for communities affected by the earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Through the spirit of ‘Serving Wholeheartedly’, Telkomsel has distributed humanitarian aid at three affected locations as part of its support for the emergency response and community recovery process.
Aid was distributed to several points, including the BNPB evacuation post in Sikka, the BNPB post in Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, the Gencor and Redo villages in Lelak District, Manggarai Regency, and the Pang Lembor village in West Manggarai Regency. This distribution is part of Telkomsel’s commitment to stand with the community amid the disaster, through the restoration of telecommunications services and direct support for the needs of affected residents.
Vice President Consumer Business Area Jawa Bali Telkomsel, Muharlis, expressed his sympathy to all communities affected by the earthquake in Flores. He said the aid distributed at several evacuation points and emergency response posts is expected to help meet the needs of the community during the recovery period.
‘We also continue to strive to ensure communication access remains available so that people can connect with their families, obtain important information, and support disaster management coordination,’ said Muharlis in a written statement on Friday (21/8/2026).
The Sikka Regency Government and the Secretary of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sikka Regency, Muhamad N. Karim, also expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by Telkomsel to affected communities.
‘The Sikka Regency Government, particularly the Tectonic Earthquake Emergency Response Post, would like to thank Telkomsel for the logistical assistance provided to the people of Sikka Regency. We hope this assistance can be distributed to those in need in a targeted manner and can help ease the needs of affected victims. We also hope that Telkomsel’s collaboration and support can continue throughout the recovery period,’ he said.
In addition to humanitarian aid, Telkomsel has also introduced an Emergency Package priced at Rp1 for customers in affected areas. The package, valid for seven days, includes 3 GB of internet, 1,000 SMS, and 300 minutes of calls, and can be activated via 88820#.
Connectivity support is also provided directly to people at evacuation sites through internet services and Telkomsel SIM cards, as well as free Wi-Fi posts. The presence of these services helps people to stay in communication with their families and access information while in evacuation centres.
One affected resident in Sikka Regency said, ‘Thank you to Telkomsel for the free internet and SIM cards provided. This assistance has been very helpful for us while in the evacuation centre and has made it easier for us to stay in communication.’
Telkomsel hopes that the availability of communication access can help people stay connected with their families, obtain official information, and support coordination during the emergency response and recovery period.
Telkomsel is also inviting customers to take part in helping affected communities through the ‘Together Help Flores Rise’ programme. Through this programme, customers can convert Telkomsel POIN into kindness for those affected by the earthquake in Flores. Customers can redeem 500 Telkomsel POIN for a donation of Rp500.
Customer participation is expected to broaden the spirit of mutual cooperation and care to help the people of Flores get through the emergency response period and the recovery process.
Telkomsel is also coordinating with the government, BNPB, BPBD, TelkomGroup, and various related parties to ensure that support for affected communities can be delivered in a targeted manner, and to help Flores rise and recover.
