Telkomsel Secures Key Spectrum to Ensure Equitable Internet Access Across Villages

Telkomsel has officially secured the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz frequency bands in an auction conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi). The company has pledged to support equitable connectivity following its success in winning both spectrum bands.

Ronald Limoa, VP of Technology Strategy & Consumer Product Development at Telkomsel, stated that this outcome represents a mandate to deliver a better digital experience for the public. “We thank the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs for a spectrum selection process that was conducted transparently, accountably, and with good governance. For Telkomsel, this spectrum allocation is not merely an addition of network resources, but a mandate to continue delivering a better digital experience for our customers and the people of Indonesia, as well as supporting digital transformation,” Ronald said in an official statement.

Spectrum is considered a crucial foundation for service delivery, helping operators provide quality connectivity and supporting the development of future digital technology. The two frequencies will strengthen the balance between network coverage and capacity, allowing the benefits to be felt more widely by individual customers, households, business players, and the industrial sector.

“Spectrum is a highly strategic public resource. Therefore, our focus is not solely on the size of the allocation obtained, but on how to transform these resources into tangible benefits experienced by customers through digital experiences that are increasingly easy, comfortable, and relevant for daily needs as well as Indonesia’s digital economic growth,” Ronald concluded.

Telkomsel obtained the largest frequency band block of 80 MHz for the 2.6 GHz band, with a total bid price of IDR 545.84 billion. For the 700 MHz band, Telkomsel secured 20 MHz (2x10 MHz) with a bid price of IDR 642.5 billion.
