Telkomsel Responds to Constitutional Court Ruling on Internet Data Quota
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Telkomsel has spoken out regarding the Constitutional Court’s (MK) decision on expiring internet quota. Telkomsel’s VP of Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility, Abdullah Fahmi, said the company respects the decision and supports the protection and certainty of services for customers.
Fahmi stated that optimal use of internet quota is an important matter. The Constitutional Court’s decision, he said, emphasises the use of telecommunications services with various options that suit customers’ needs.
“Currently, Telkomsel has provided a wide range of product and service options, including packages with a quota rollover mechanism on related products, so that customers can choose the services that best suit their needs and usage patterns,” he explained in a statement received by CNBC Indonesia on Friday (24/7/2026).
Telkomsel is also continuing to improve transparency and ease of access to information, namely by making product and service information simpler, clearer and easier to understand, and by providing it through various digital channels.
In addition, Fahmi said Telkomsel will launch and develop services and mechanisms that strengthen customer handling and bring innovation. All of this is delivered while continuing to prioritise consumer protection, reliable service quality and the national telecommunications ecosystem.
“Telkomsel is always open to dialogue and collaboration with regulators, customers and various stakeholders to ensure services are increasingly relevant to the needs of the public and to support Indonesia’s digital ecosystem,” he explained.
Previously, the Constitutional Court affirmed that internet quota that has already been purchased must be usable by consumers until it runs out. Customers can do so without having to pay additional fees.
The Court also affirmed that existing regulations must guarantee protection for users. This can be achieved by providing more flexible package options, such as quota accumulation features, rollover-free options or other innovations.
