Telkomsel Responds to Constitutional Court Ruling on Internet Data Quota

Telkomsel has responded to the Constitutional Court’s decision concerning expired internet data quotas. VP Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility Telkomsel, Abdullah Fahmi, stated that the company respects the ruling and supports the protection and certainty of services for customers. Fahmi noted that optimal utilisation of internet quota is important. He said the Constitutional Court’s decision emphasises the use of telecommunication services with various choices suited to customer needs. “Currently, Telkomsel has provided a variety of product and service options, including packages with a quota rollover mechanism on related products, so customers can choose the service that best fits their needs and usage patterns,” he explained. Telkomsel is also continuously improving transparency and ease of information access by making product and service information simpler, clearer, and easier to understand through various digital channels. Furthermore, Fahmi said Telkomsel will launch and develop services and mechanisms that strengthen customer handling and deliver innovation. All of this is presented while prioritising consumer protection, reliable service quality, and the national telecommunications ecosystem. “Telkomsel is always open to dialogue and collaboration with regulators, customers, and various stakeholders to ensure services are increasingly relevant to community needs and support Indonesia’s digital ecosystem,” he explained. Previously, the Constitutional Court affirmed that internet quota that has been purchased must be usable by consumers until it runs out, without customers having to pay additional fees. The Court also stressed that existing rules must guarantee protection for users, which can be achieved by providing more flexible package options such as quota accumulation features, without rollover, or other innovations.
