Telkomsel has begun planting the first 1,000 mangrove trees at the Taman Wisata Alam Angke in North Jakarta, a tangible follow-up to the Telkomsel Digiland Run 2026 ‘The RACEvolution’. The initiative stems from the participation of 12,500 runners who collectively covered 131,625 kilometres, resulting in a commitment to plant a total of 26,325 trees, with every 5 kilometres run converted into one tree. The kick-off event, themed ‘The RACEVolution Continues: From Every Step to Every Root’, connects a healthy lifestyle with tangible environmental impact.

Following the success of the Digiland Run 2026, which blended sports, technology, entertainment, and MSME empowerment, Telkomsel is extending the event into a coastal restoration action to address abrasion and the loss of mangrove green cover on Jakarta’s north coast. This first planting coincides with World Environment Day and is close to the anniversaries of Telkom Indonesia, Telkomsel, and DKI Jakarta.

For Telkomsel, this initiative is part of the ongoing ‘Telkomsel Jaga Bumi’ movement, launched in 2022, which focuses on energy management, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and waste processing. The company has previously affirmed its sustainable business commitment on World Environment Day and through various public participation initiatives, including Telkomsel Poin exchanges for tree planting and environmental education campaigns. By 2025, collaboration between Telkomsel, Jejak.in, and customers had helped plant over 39,000 trees across Indonesia.

VP Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility Telkomsel Abdullah Fahmi stated that for Telkomsel, serving wholeheartedly means delivering a felt impact, not just connectivity. ‘Through Telkomsel Jaga Bumi, we want to make it easier for more people to do good for the environment in ways that are close to their daily lives. From every step of the runners at Digiland Run 2026, new roots grow today, which we hope will protect the coast, nurture hope, and provide long-term benefits for future generations,’ he said.

The activity involved over 100 participants from TelkomGroup, Telkomsel, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, media, and internal volunteers. The event included tree planting in the mangrove area, eco-friendly supporting activities, and educational sessions to strengthen understanding of the importance of coastal ecosystems. The Taman Wisata Alam Angke area was chosen for its vital role in restoring Jakarta’s natural green belt and supporting SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

Aligned with TelkomGroup’s GoZero sustainability strategy, which focuses on saving the planet, empowering people, and elevating business, this tree-planting initiative reflects the practical implementation of sustainability principles at the operating company level while driving emission reductions towards the Net Zero 2060 target. Telkomsel and TelkomGroup will gradually plant thousands more trees through the Jaga Bumi movement in various regions across Indonesia.
