Telkomsel Partners with China Telecom to Explore Integrated Digital Solutions

Telkomsel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China Telecom Global Limited (CTG) to develop integrated digital solutions for the enterprise and vertical industry sectors in Indonesia. The signing took place during the Mobile World Congress Shanghai on 25 June 2026. Through this MoU, Telkomsel and CTG will explore the development of solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), ICT services, and 5G connectivity for various industries. As the world’s largest archipelago with over 17,000 islands, Indonesia has diverse industrial connectivity needs, from remote areas to mining sites, industrial estates, and ports, requiring reliable, secure connectivity that supports rapid business decision-making. CTG will bring its technological solutions and capabilities in AI, IoT, and ICT services, while Telkomsel will contribute its network infrastructure, sales channels, and deep understanding of customer needs in Indonesia. The two companies will also explore developing SIM-based solutions for AI and IoT, as well as 5G and LTE connectivity support for various industrial sectors. Telkomsel’s Vice President of Enterprise Product Management and Development, Kwok Wai Kiat, stated that digital transformation is about creating meaningful impact for businesses and industries in Indonesia. He noted that the MoU represents an important step in driving the development of 5G, AI, IoT, and ICT solutions tailored to the needs of various industrial sectors in Indonesia. Telkomsel has a proven track record in 5G industrial use cases, including Southeast Asia’s first underground 5G smart mining with Freeport Indonesia for remote monitoring and operations, as well as private 5G networks for smart industrial parks in Halmahera, smart manufacturing with Toyota Indonesia, and smart factory solutions with Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia. Lu Faming, VP of Carrier Business at China Telecom Global, expressed hope that this joint exploration will create more relevant, secure, and impactful solutions for Indonesia’s digital transformation, particularly in improving operational efficiency, productivity, and safety.
