The Indonesian Telecommunication Providers Association (ATSI) has stated that all mobile operators in Indonesia now provide and will continue to develop package options with a rollover feature. Telkomsel, one of the operators, has introduced an Accumulation feature that allows customers to carry over unused main quota to the following month, meaning unused data will no longer be forfeited. This feature is available through SIMPATI monthly packages, including 3 GB, 8 GB, and 13 GB options with a 30-day validity period. With the Accumulation feature, customers can use the remaining main quota from the SIMPATI package in the next period, provided they repurchase the same package before the previous one expires. The validity period of the rolled-over quota follows the newly activated package. For example, if a customer buys an 8 GB package for Rp70,000 and has 5 GB remaining at the end of the period, repurchasing the same package before expiry automatically accumulates the leftover quota, resulting in a total of 13 GB. The accumulation only applies to internet quota and is void if the repurchase occurs after the active period ends. ATSI Executive Director Marwan O. Baasir made the statement during a Constitutional Court hearing on Thursday regarding a judicial review of internet quota forfeiture schemes. He reported that ATSI had discussed with operators including Telkomsel, Indosat, and XLSmart to formulate alternative formulas in response to the panel of judges’ recommendations. ATSI and operators have committed to providing and developing various internet service packages offering greater flexibility, including rollover, non-rollover, and other service innovations, allowing customers to choose services that best suit their needs, capabilities, and usage patterns.
