Telkomsel forecasts an increase in internet traffic in five regions during the Lebaran mudik period. The peak payload in the Jakarta and Banten regional area during the mudik season is around 6.38 Petabytes (PB), an increase of about 3.30 per cent compared to normal days, said Ade Mulyono, General Manager of Region Network Operations and Productivity for Jakarta and Banten, Telkomsel, in Tangerang on Saturday.

The increase in customer digital activity spans categories such as video streaming, communications, games, online shopping, and social media.

To provide comfort for customers accessing Telkomsel's digital services, they have optimised the network at 21 priority Points of Interest (POIs) across categories (special areas/crowded places, transport, mudik routes, residential areas, and places of worship).

Additionally, 10 Compact Mobile BTS (COMBAT) units will be deployed at locations with high potential crowding to ensure capacity and signal quality remains prime.

“We also conducted drive tests spanning 1,299 kilometres, including 871 kilometres of toll roads, to ensure coverage and the quality of voice and data services is adequate,” he said.

In addition, to ensure customers in Jakarta and Banten continue to enjoy reliable connectivity throughout Ramadan and Idul Fitri, the network has been optimised across all priority points, strengthening AI-based monitoring 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and deploying supporting infrastructure in areas with potential density.
