Telkomsel CEO Unveils AI Transformation Strategy, Receives Endorsement from Danantara
Telkomsel is no longer focusing solely on being an internet service provider. The Telkom Group subsidiary has established a new strategic focus on AI-based business.
This was revealed in a post by the @bumn_id Instagram account, highlighting Telkomsel’s efforts to drive long-term growth. The move marks a fundamental operational shift for Telkomsel, transforming from a mere provider of data connectivity (gigabytes) into a key player in the digital economy era driven by AI tokens.
The post featured a meeting between Telkomsel and Danantara, attended by Telkomsel President Director, Nugroho, and the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Agency (BP BUMN) and COO of Danantara, Dony Oskaria.
Dony expressed his support for Telkomsel’s intensified focus on AI business. He emphasised that companies in the communications technology sector must remain agile in response to changing times, noting that competition is no longer merely between companies, but rather a competition against the rapid pace of technological evolution.
Telkomsel has already launched several AI-based products, including SISCAMLING (Sistem Cegah Scam Keliling), which provides AI-based protection featuring suspicious call alerts, SMS blocking, and number checking. The company has also established an AI Innovation Hub at a prominent university.
Furthermore, Telkomsel has implemented more than 100 AI/ML use cases across network management, customer service, sales, and IT automation. This adoption forms the basis of an Autonomous Network that helps predict and repair potential disruptions in real-time, reducing downtime by up to three times and accelerating incident response by more than 40%, thereby stabilising streaming, gaming, and other digital activities.
In terms of customer service, AI automation through the use of intelligent virtual assistants, Veronika and Ted, has reduced resolution costs by up to 78% while simultaneously increasing customer satisfaction.
