Telkomsel Assists Customers Out of Data Quota with This Initiative!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Telkomsel has made a bold move by integrating Instagram Basic Mode for SIMPATI customers, allowing users to continue accessing Feed, Stories, and Messages even after their data quota has run out.
Available since 13 February 2026, Instagram Basic Mode ensures that customers remain connected to core features and their Instagram communities when their remaining quota reaches zero.

Instagram Basic Mode extends the success of Facebook Basic Mode in keeping customers connected to the people and content they love during important moments, while delivering an intuitive, low-distraction, and engaging experience.
Telkomsel’s Marketing Director, Lionel Chng, stated that Instagram Basic Mode allows customers to stay connected even when data quota is depleted, via a simple and secure in-app process.
“Our focus is on helping customers remain connected and seamlessly return to the full experience, without compromising quality or convenience,” he said in an official statement on Friday (3/4/2026).
He added that when prepaid customers’ quotas run out, Instagram will display a pop-up window offering the option to enter Basic Mode, thereby maintaining access to core features and communities.
When ready to switch to the full experience, customers can easily purchase a data package directly in the app and instantly enjoy Instagram comprehensively. This integration is designed to sustain the customer experience, ensuring transactions remain simple and secure through Telkomsel’s official channels.
