Telkomsel Affirms 'Serving with All Heart' Commitment on 31st Anniversary
As it marks its 31st anniversary, Telkomsel reaffirms its ‘Serving with All Heart’ commitment by delivering more personalised, relevant, and meaningful digital services to the Indonesian people amid technological advancements and digital transformation. Telkomsel CEO Nugroho stated that customer trust is the key factor driving the company’s growth as a leader in Indonesia’s digital telecommunications industry. ‘On this 31st anniversary, we are grateful for customer trust that has enabled Telkomsel to continue growing as a leader in Indonesia’s digital telecommunications industry. These achievements are the result of contributions, dedication, and collaboration from various stakeholders,’ Nugroho said yesterday. He added that technological advancements, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), must prioritise a customer-centric and empathetic approach to ensure services provide convenience and security for the public. ‘Every solution must deliver convenience, safety, and support in customers’ daily lives,’ he said. Over 31 years of operation, Telkomsel has navigated various phases of telecommunications technology development in Indonesia, from the launch of KartuHalo in 1995 and simPATI in 1997 to the deployment of 3G, 4G/LTE, and Hyper 5G networks. Company Transformation Nugroho explained that the company’s transformation is reinforced through broadband and 5G network development, the MyTelkomsel Super App, and the integration of IndiHome B2C services. ‘This journey reflects Telkomsel’s ability to adapt and strengthen its role in building an integrated digital ecosystem with various partners,’ he said. Over the past decade, Telkomsel has leveraged AI to enhance service quality through Autonomous Network and Virtual Assistant Veronika. Additionally, the company collaborated with Indonesia Artificial Intelligence (INA AI) to introduce Sacred Octagon in the MyTelkomsel app as an AI-based learning solution for Indonesian families. Currently, Telkomsel’s 5G services cover over 107 cities and regencies, supported by more than 6,380 5G base stations, including contiguous 5G in 36 cities and regencies. ‘Sustainability commitments are upheld through Green BTS, with over 360 using renewable energy, and e-waste management via reuse and recycling,’ Nugroho said. Beyond network and technology enhancements, Telkomsel runs several corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, including NextDev, a digital startup incubation initiative. The programme has supported thousands of talents and strengthened the national digital innovation ecosystem. Telkomsel also works to maintain public connectivity during emergencies, including accelerating network recovery after hydro-meteorological disasters in Sumatra by end-2025. Telkomsel’s Contributions According to an independent socio-economic study by PT LAPI ITB for 2024–2025, Telkomsel contributed Rp36.972 trillion through spectrum PNBP, USO and Jastel levies, taxes, and dividends. ‘The Telkomsel ecosystem is estimated to have created over 685,000 direct and indirect jobs,’ he added. Nugroho added that Telkomsel continues to expand service coverage to remote, border, and outermost regions (3T) as part of its commitment to national digital access equity. ‘Connectivity development is driven not only by commercial considerations but also by a national mission to provide inclusive digital access for all Indonesians,’ he said. Awards Received For network and service quality, Telkomsel has received international awards including the GSMA Global Mobile Awards, World Communication Awards, Global Telecom Awards, Opensignal Mobile Network Experience Awards, Ookla Speedtest Awards, and Gartner Marketing & Communications Awards. To celebrate its 31st anniversary, Telkomsel introduced a ‘Surprise Deal’ for SIMPATI customers: a 31GB data package for three days at Rp31,000 and a 500GB package for 30 days at Rp310,000. The offer is valid from 26 to 28 May 2026 via the MyTelkomsel app, tsel.id/surprise website, and dialling *36370#. ‘As we enter our 31st year, we want Telkomsel to mature further and continue strengthening its role in supporting Indonesia’s progress. Through innovation and the spirit of ‘Serving with All Heart’, we are committed to delivering the best experience for customers,’ Nugroho concluded.
