Telkom's lip service
Telkom's lip service
From Kompas
In August 2000, PT Telkom offered new telephone lines through
its ads in the printed media, for which consumers could register
by calling the company. I contacted them to secure one line for
my new house in Pekayon, East Jakarta.
Within several days, I was summoned to the Telkom office to
submit documents for the connection, before a survey and
installation could be conducted. Later, I was told that my
application was accepted and again, I had to visit Telkom to pay
administrative charges.
To my surprise, at the office I got a letter notifying the
postponement of the installation and was told that the previous
information was mistaken. Since then, all questions have been
answered with the reply that the network was not yet available.
What I cannot understand is the phrase in the postponement
note that my registration is Telkom's priority, and equally
puzzling is the statement, "Thank you for your trust in PT
Telkom", while almost two and a half years have elapsed without
any installation as promised.
Why should Telkom just give us lip service? In addition, what
use is the subscription rate increase, if one of the purposes is
for network expansion?
