Telkom uses Cisco internet system
JAKARTA: State-owned telecommunications firm PT Telkom has agreed to use the Internet system created by American firm Cisco System to improve its Internet service.
Telkom said in a statement that Cisco 7600s will enable the state company to dramatically increase Internet access, speed and bandwidth in the country.
"Utilizing Cisco 7600s will enable PT Telkom to break through service and bandwidth barriers and create profitable, value-added services, offering IP-Virtual Private Networks, video and voice conferencing, network-based security and e-applications," the statement said.
Cisco has installed the system in 100 towns and cities across the country.
The project worth US$11 million is expected to be completed in June this year. -- JP
