Telkom University Strengthens Educational Competitiveness with South Korea
Bandung — Telkom University is strengthening its global educational competitiveness through the Korea-Indonesia Seminar Series, organised in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Indonesia, the Korean Education Centre, and the Korea Foundation.
Parman Sukarno, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Strategic Planning at Telkom University, stated that the event serves as a platform for discussing collaboration opportunities between Indonesia and South Korea in the fields of creative industries and digital public diplomacy.
“I believe this is an excellent event. It can further strengthen the relationship between Indonesia and South Korea, particularly between Telkom University and existing institutions in South Korea,” Parman said in Bandung on Friday.
He noted that the Korea-Indonesia Seminar Series provides significant benefits for students by broadening their horizons regarding educational systems, scholarship opportunities, and international career prospects. “Students can obtain information regarding opportunities to pursue Master’s and Doctoral programmes in South Korea. Additionally, students can equip themselves with Korean language skills,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Consul General of the Republic of Korea to Indonesia, Kang Won-joon, remarked that the seminar holds special significance as it is the first time three main themes have been combined into a single series of activities.
“Therefore, this activity is highly significant. This seminar is not only a venue for sharing knowledge but also opens opportunities for cooperation, education, and career development for students in the future,” he said.
Kang added that the seminar also featured a special session regarding student exchange programmes between Indonesia and South Korea. The event was also attended by university alumni currently studying in South Korea, who shared their experiences regarding the learning process, study preparation, and academic life in the country.
“They will explain how to prepare for further studies in South Korea and provide various insights to Telkom University students, encouraging them to take the opportunity to study in South Korea and subsequently return to Indonesia,” he said.
The seminar comprised three main sessions. The first session, themed ‘Film and Creative Industry’, featured speaker Dyah Ayu Wiwid Sintowoko, who discussed trends, challenges, and collaboration opportunities within the Indonesian and South Korean creative industries. The second session, titled ‘Digital Cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Indonesia’, featured Anindita Sekar Jati, who reviewed digital cooperation and public diplomacy between the two nations.
