PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or Telkom (TLKM), through Telkom Solution, is strengthening its role in promoting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across Indonesia. The company took part in the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (DTIIF) at the Wisma Danantara Indonesia auditorium in Jakarta on Thursday, 8 October 2026.

At the event, Telkom Enterprise & Business Service Director Veranita Yosephine discussed developments in AI and opportunities for its use across sectors, as well as the importance of collaboration in building an AI ecosystem capable of delivering broader benefits for Indonesia.

“Global artificial intelligence (AI) development has entered a phase of practical implementation; it is no longer merely a technology of the future. Technology companies and start-ups around the world have already begun using agentic AI to transform businesses, create new value, and redefine workflows and business processes,” Veranita said during a panel session entitled “The Future of AI in Indonesia”.

AI development is creating greater scope for businesses to raise productivity, optimise processes, make more accurate data-driven decisions and deliver better customer experiences.

However, making use of this technology requires an adequate foundation—not only in technology, but also in digital infrastructure, data, talent and cooperation among stakeholders.

Telkom views the development of an AI ecosystem as an integrated “AI stack”. Its foundations begin with connectivity and digital infrastructure, followed by cloud and computing power, AI models and an agent lab, and finally applications for a range of sectors and business functions. This approach links the different technology components to support business needs throughout the value chain.

Veranita added: “What we need to build is not just technological capability, but also the ecosystem to support it—from digital infrastructure and data to talent and cross-sector collaboration. With that foundation, AI can have a broader impact and create value for Indonesia.”

Telkom Solution offers capabilities spanning AI, data, cloud and digital infrastructure to support these needs. Integrating these capabilities allows it to provide solutions that are more responsive to customer requirements and help businesses keep pace with rapid technological change.

As a digital telecommunications company with extensive infrastructure—including fibre-optic networks, satellites, data centres and other supporting facilities—TelkomGroup says it has a strong ecosystem for expanding AI use. These assets underpin Telkom Solution’s integration of digital capabilities to meet an increasingly diverse range of business needs.

Alongside Telkom Solution, TelkomGroup presented a range of digital capabilities and innovations during the Road to DTIIF 2026 programme, covering connectivity, infrastructure, data centres, cloud and AI, as well as solutions for businesses and industry. These included PaDi UMKM, a marketplace ecosystem for state-owned enterprises and micro, small and medium-sized businesses, and LinkAja digital payments. The company said the range demonstrates how its capabilities complement one another in meeting digital needs and creates opportunities for collaboration with businesses across sectors and strategic partners.

“We see a major opportunity for Indonesia not only to use AI, but also to build and develop an AI ecosystem suited to the country’s needs. Collaboration is essential to ensure that innovation can grow inclusively and deliver a sustainable impact,” Veranita said.

DTIIF also provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange views on technological developments and investment opportunities in the digital sector. The forum brought together perspectives on technology, industry needs and investment potential to encourage solutions relevant to Indonesia’s digital challenges and opportunities.

Telkom said it would continue to develop its digital capabilities and expand collaboration to support the acceleration of Indonesia’s AI ecosystem. The effort forms part of the company’s strategy to use technology not only to drive digital transformation, but also to create growth opportunities and strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the digital era.

“AI development also needs to be matched by readiness across all supporting elements so that available technology can be used to its full potential. Indonesia’s infrastructure, data, talent and digital capabilities must continue to be developed to ensure AI delivers tangible value for society and businesses,” Veranita concluded.
