PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem as part of efforts to accelerate Indonesia’s digital transformation. One such initiative is realised through collaboration with Katadata Indonesia in the Data Unboxed @Campus programme titled “Strengthening Indonesia’s AI Ecosystem: From Campus Innovation to National Impact,” held at the Auditorium of the University of Udayana, Bali, on Friday (10/4).

The event featured interactive discussions with industry professionals and students to broaden understanding of AI utilisation in strengthening talent, developing innovation, and accelerating the national AI ecosystem collaboratively between campuses and industry. This forum is part of Telkom’s initiative to bolster the national digital ecosystem through an end-to-end approach, from talent development and research to the implementation of practical AI-based solutions across various sectors from upstream to downstream.

This initiative also aligns with Telkom’s role as an enabler of Indonesia’s digital transformation, continuously promoting technology utilisation to enhance national competitiveness and impact the growth of the digital economy. The forum was opened with remarks from the Rector of the University of Udayana, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., who emphasised that AI utilisation must be promoted inclusively across all fields, not limited to the technology sector, while remaining rooted in local wisdom to strengthen national identity and competitiveness.

It was further conveyed that such efforts require integrated multi-stakeholder collaboration between industry, government, and academia to deliver tangible impacts through strengthened research and sustainable co-creation.

In his remarks, Telkom’s VP of Corporate Communication, Andri Herawan Sasoko, emphasised that AI has now become a strategic foundation in driving economic growth and digital transformation.

“AI is no longer merely a future technology but the primary enabler determining national competitiveness. Telkom views the strengthening of the AI ecosystem as something that must be done collaboratively, with campuses as centres of innovation and talent, and industry as accelerators of implementation so that its benefits can be widely felt by society,” Andri concluded.
