Telkom Reveals Strategy to Build AI Ecosystem
PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has launched AIcosystem, an integrated artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem that unites all AI capabilities within the TelkomGroup environment. This move is intended to support the utilisation of AI across various sectors and provide relevant solutions for industrial and societal needs.
The ecosystem encompasses various AI portfolios within TelkomGroup, including the Telkom AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE), Telkomsel AI, Neutra Compute from NeutraDC, AI Infomedia, AI Digiserve, and Telkom University.
President Director of Telkom, Dian Siswarini, stated that AIcosystem represents the company’s commitment to establishing AI as the foundation of digital transformation, capable of providing added value for Indonesia. “With AIcosystem, we are uniting all the AI strengths of TelkomGroup so that Indonesia possesses a solid, integrated AI ecosystem capable of creating a real impact for society, the business world, and national competitiveness,” Dian said during the launch of AIcosystem, themed ‘Beyond Innovation, Impact for Nation’, at Telkom Landmark, Jakarta.
To support structured AI development, Telkom relies on the AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE), which is built upon five main pillars: AI Campus, AI Playground, AI Connect, AI Hub, and AI Native. Through AI Campus, Telkom strengthens collaboration with universities for talent development and AI research, while AI Playground serves as an exploration space for developers and communities to create AI-based solutions. Meanwhile, AI Connect functions to link universities, industry, communities, and Telkom in a collaborative ecosystem. AI Hub is designed to accelerate the transformation of ideas and experiments into ready-to-use solutions, and AI Native focuses on implementing AI within TelkomGroup’s internal operations to enhance speed, intelligence, and work efficiency.
Telkom’s Director of IT Digital, Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi, explained that AIcosystem adopts a full-stack AI approach, distinguishing it from other AI initiatives. “AIcosystem is built with a full-stack approach so that TelkomGroup does not only provide solutions in the form of applications, but also strengthens its AI foundation through infrastructure, data, models, and platforms,” he explained.
This full-stack approach comprises three main layers: AI Infrastructure, AI Models & Platforms, and AI Solutions & Applications. At the infrastructure layer, Telkom provides support through data centres, GPUs, CPUs, and memory as the foundation for AI computing. At the model and platform layer, Telkom is developing AI platforms, big data platforms, data aggregators, and Large Language Models (LLM) that support the Indonesian language. At the solutions and applications layer, Telkom provides various AI use cases tailored to the needs of industrial sectors and public services.
During the same event, the Special Envoy to the President for the Development of Youth and Artists, Raffi Ahmad, noted that AI developments present great opportunities for the younger generation to learn, innovate, and expand collaboration. “The presence of AIcosystem developed by TelkomGroup is proof that Indonesia is not just a user, but a creator of AI,” said Raffi.
