Telkom receives strong demand
JAKARTA (JP): The state-owned domestic telecommunications operator PT Telkom received applications for 71,284 new telephone lines in the greater Jakarta area within the first 11 days of a promotion campaign set between March 11 and April 30.
Chief of Telkom's Jakarta office, Bambang Riady Oemar, said yesterday that of the applicants, 19,159 lived in South Jakarta.
Telkom has targeted to market 382,228 telephone lines this year in Greater Jakarta which includes Bogor, Tangerang and Serang.
Bambang said that the new telephone installations will be completed within the next three months.
In addition to promoting telephone facilities at the one-month campaign promoting, Telkom is offering people the chance to channel any phone-related complaints.
"There were 7,000 complaints during the first 11 days of the service drive, 80 percent of which have been settled," Bambang said. (icn)
