Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - State telecommunications operator PT Telkom Indonesia has decided to inject another US$2 million to develop its e-commerce plasa.com portal site.
"We need huge investment to develop plasma.com through a transformation program we have launched. We hope it can develop and become part of the world community," PT Telkom President Director Rinaldi Firmansyah said here on Monday.
To withstand competition in the e-commerce sector bold measures coupled with strong funding was needed, he said.
He said the US$2 million investment would be used to develop the plasa.com in the next three years.
As such, plasa.com would be able to provide a wide range of contents to keep abreast of developments in the cyber world, he said.
"We hope we can get support from domestic Internet surfers. Love domestic products by surfing domestic news portals," he said.
He said the transformation program would be carried out by developing the system and infrastructure and adjusting the organizational structure to the current need.
As part of the adjustment, he said new divisions would be formed to support the transformation program.
Transformation was a must to survive amidst fierce competition, he said.
"Transformation is not identical to rationalization. We carry out transformation by removing employees to other divisions to support our business. Every year we recruit 200 new employees," he said. (*)
