Telkom Group and Huawei Sign MoU to Strengthen Digital Infrastructure
PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom), through its data centre company PT Telkom Data Ekosistem (NeutraDC), has established a strategic collaboration with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd (Huawei). The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Strategic Activities for Digital Telco.
The agreement encompasses digital infrastructure development, strengthening of the data centre ecosystem, and exploration of technologies supporting digital transformation. The signing took place during Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona on 3 March, one of the world’s largest technology and telecommunications events bringing together global industry players.
The MoU was signed by Telkom’s Director of Strategic Business Development and Portfolio Seno Soemadji, NeutraDC Group Chief Executive Officer Andreuw Th.A.F., and Huawei Director Chi Kaichao. This collaboration represents a strategic step for Telkom Group in strengthening digital infrastructure business development whilst creating opportunities for technology synergy with Huawei to support the development of an increasingly reliable and efficient data centre ecosystem.
Seno Soemadji stated that the collaboration is part of Telkom Group’s efforts to strengthen the foundation of reliable and globally competitive digital infrastructure. “The signing of the MoU at MWC Barcelona symbolises Telkom’s commitment to continuous transformation as a world-class digital telco. The strategic collaboration with Huawei will strengthen digital infrastructure capabilities, accelerate innovation in enterprise solutions, and ensure our talent readiness in addressing Indonesia’s digital transformation needs,” Soemadji said.
Telkom, together with NeutraDC and Huawei, will explore digital infrastructure business development, particularly in strengthening the data centre ecosystem. For Huawei’s service development requiring data centre facilities, Huawei may consider utilising NeutraDC’s data centre facilities, including opportunities for placement of Huawei Cloud availability zones in accordance with the agreement terms and applicable regulations.
Additionally, Huawei will share information on cutting-edge data centre technology innovations, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) technology, AI-based architecture and hardware, and solutions supporting sustainability and operational efficiency. This knowledge is expected to serve as a reference in developing NeutraDC’s infrastructure capabilities.
Currently, NeutraDC operates the NeutraDC Nxera Batam hyperscale data centre facility, which represents Telkom’s AI-ready digital infrastructure readiness. Strategically located in the SIJORI region (Singapore, Johor, Riau), the facility is supported by an international connectivity ecosystem and adherence to global standards to serve regional digital ecosystem needs.
NeutraDC Group Chief Executive Officer Andreuw Th.A.F. stated that as a data centre infrastructure provider, NeutraDC is ready to support enterprise and hyperscaler customer needs whilst advancing next-generation network technology development. “The collaboration with Huawei opens opportunities for NeutraDC to continue delivering scalable, efficient data centre infrastructure ready to support future AI and cloud requirements. We believe this synergy will strengthen an increasingly reliable and globally competitive digital ecosystem,” he said.
Huawei Director Chi Kaichao welcomed the strategic collaboration as part of joint efforts to support a more advanced digital ecosystem development. “Through this collaboration, Huawei hopes to strengthen synergy with Telkom and NeutraDC in delivering innovative, efficient, and sustainable data centre and digital infrastructure technology. We believe this partnership can unlock new opportunities in developing cloud and digital infrastructure ecosystems that support accelerated digital transformation in Indonesia,” Chi Kaichao said.
The collaboration between Telkom, NeutraDC, and Huawei aligns with Telkom’s vision to accelerate national digital ecosystem development, strengthen industry competitiveness, and support Indonesia’s digital economic transformation agenda. Through orchestration of global technology partner ecosystems, Telkom continues to strengthen its role as the primary enabler in building integrated digital infrastructure and solutions.
Beyond the MoU signing, as part of the MWC Barcelona agenda, Telkom’s Director of Strategic Business Development and Portfolio Seno Soemadji also held strategic meetings with Huawei, including with Huawei Vice President Carrier Sales James Zhang, to reinforce long-term collaboration direction between both companies.
These meetings discussed digital infrastructure development, hyperscale data centres, next-generation networks, and strengthening Telkom’s B2B ICT capabilities. This initiative aligns with Telkom Group’s strategy to strengthen the digital infrastructure ecosystem through the NeutraDC platform and future network development through InfraCo, whilst supporting the national digital transformation agenda.
Through orchestration of global technology partner ecosystems, Telkom continues to strengthen its role as the primary enabler in building integrated digital infrastructure and solutions to support Indonesia’s digital economy growth.
