Telkom extends discount period

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom announced yesterday that the 20-percent discount period for new telephone installations in Greater Jakarta would be extended for 30 days until the end of this month.

Telkom deputy general manager for Jakarta, Jimmy R. Villanueva, said the company decided to extend the period to commemorate Independence Day on Aug. 17.

During the discount period, which was launched on July 1, telephone installation fees in Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang and Depok are reduced to Rp 640,000 for business subscribers, Rp 472,000 for private use, government institutions and the Armed Forces and Rp 328,000 for social institutions.

Telephone installation fees in Bogor are reduced to Rp 360,000 for businesses, Rp 240,000 for private use and Rp 160,000 for social institutions.

Fees in Purwakarta, Serang, Rengasdengklok, Leuwiliang and Jasinga are set at Rp 160,000 for businesses, Rp 168,000 for private use and Rp 104,000 for social institutions.

Villanueva said that during the discount period, Telkom also offered interest-free installment payments and vouchers for telecommunications equipment and facilities. (icn)
