PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) have forged a strategic collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate digital infrastructure with low-carbon energy supplies. As a manifestation of their commitment to accelerating the digital ecosystem, this initiative represents a concrete step by both parties to promote the utilisation of green energy in supporting sustainable green data centre operations. The signing was conducted by Telkom’s President Director Dian Siswarini and PGN’s President Director Arief Kurnia Risdianto in Jakarta on Friday (10/4). Present were Senior Director of Business Performance and Assets Optimization at Danantara Indonesia Bhimo Aryanto, Telkom’s Director of Strategic Portfolio Seno Soemadji, PGN’s Finance Director Catur Dermawan, and PGN’s Director of Strategy and Business Development Mirza Mahendra, as a show of support for strengthening cross-sector synergies in accelerating national digital transformation and energy transition. In this partnership, Telkom serves as the developer of the digital ecosystem and data centres that require low-emission energy supplies, including biomethane, to support TelkomGroup’s data centre operations. Meanwhile, PGN provides such energy supplies through the utilisation of biomethane derived from palm oil waste in the Sumatra region. The scope of the collaboration encompasses joint studies up to exploring the implementation of green energy in TelkomGroup’s data centre ecosystem, both domestically and abroad. This step forms a crucial foundation in ensuring the availability of reliable green energy sources as a key factor in developing next-generation data centres that are efficient and sustainable. Senior Director of Business Performance and Assets Optimization at Danantara Indonesia Bhimo Aryanto stated that this collaboration is a strategic move to strengthen synergies among state-owned enterprises as well as global partners. “We view this collaboration as an important momentum to strengthen the integration between the digital and energy sectors. The synergies built will not only create efficiency but also open opportunities for creating new sustainable value, as well as strengthening Indonesia’s position in the regional digital ecosystem,” said Bhimo. On the same occasion, Telkom’s President Director Dian Siswarini emphasised that this collaboration is a strategic step to strengthen synergies among state-owned enterprises in supporting the development of reliable and sustainable national digital infrastructure.
